Amidst a sea of Korean webtoons in the horror genre, ‘Strangers From Hell’ emerged as a novel dish and was praised as a horror series on a completely different level.
The drawing is surprisingly bad
The author of ‘Strangers From Hell’ is Kim Yong Ki – a not-so-famous artist.
Moreover, Kim Yong Ki has completely convinced readers, because the drawings that seemed crazy ugly when combined with the plot became something that haunted and terrified readers.
The plot is new and attractive
‘Strangers From Hell’ is about Yoon Jong Woo – a 25-year-old young man from the countryside who comes to the province to find a job.
Jong Woo’s neighbors appear one after another with strange and creepy personalities and actions:
Room 201: A mysterious person revealing only his white eyes.
Room 203: A man shocked Jong Woo by commenting that he looked like a fresh piece of meat.
Room 204: A scruffy and smelly gangster.
Room 206: This person seems more ‘gentle’, but doesn’t seem to be much different from the guys in rooms 204 and 203.
Room 205: This room has no permanent residents but changes owners constantly.
Finally, the equally monstrous character is the landlady with haunted eyes.
Since moving into this room, Yoon Jong Woo has always had nightmares and had every intention of moving out.
The compliments are endless
The success of ‘Strangers From Hell’ is shown with an almost perfect score of 9.9 on Naver Webtoon and a huge amount of interaction and traffic.
Not stopping at a webtoon, ‘Strangers From Hell’ has been adapted into a television series with the participation of many A-list actors in the Korean entertainment industry.
